365 Key Chapters of the Bible: Exodus 1

The book of Genesis lays the foundation of what happens in Exodus. The story of Joseph bringing his family to Egypt to save them from the famine immediately leads into Exodus 1. We learn that the children of Israel flourished and prospered in the land of the Egyptians. Eventually, a king arose over Egypt who knew nothing of Joseph. He viewed Israel as a threat and so enslaved them. When Israel continued to flourish, he instructed the Hebrew midwives to murder all of the male infants. However, the midwives feared and honored God and did not obey the unjust law of the king. God blessed them and continued to multiply Israel in the midst of the Egyptians.

This session is part 51 of the 365 Key Chapters of the Bible series, based on Ken’s Handbook to Scripture.
