You will either judge Scripture according to your culture, or you will judge your culture according to Scripture. We are immersed in chaos in our culture in many ways. But we know that the King is coming, and we need to cultivate character to live in light of that Day.
True heavenly fame is compatible with earthbound anonymity. As we grow in wisdom, we will store up treasure for ourselves in heaven.
Peter continues to prepare his readers for upcoming persecution and opposition. He encourages them to always be prepared to make a defense for the hope that is in them. Dr. Boa expounds on this notion of turning from fear to faith and sanctifying Christ as Lord in our hearts so that the shalom within us becomes evident to others.
Dr. Boa focuses on two verses (1 Peter 3:8-9) a little transitional section dealing with our relationship with the believing community as well as our relationship to those who oppress and oppose us. It is a lifestyle of love.
Dr. Boa addresses the practical application of the spheres of God ordained authority. We are people under divinely ordained authority and we are called to a lifestyle of submission. Dr. Boa encourages us to press on to the higher calling of God and to walk in obedience to the things He has called us to pursue.
