The combined Gospel accounts reveal that Jesus endured six trials. The first three were religious (before Annas, Caiaphas, and the Sanhedrin), and the last three were civil (before Pilate, Herod, and again before Pilate). When Judas realized the outcome of the deliberations, he threw the blood money into the temple and later hanged himself.
