Daily Encouragement Day 12 – Genesis 21

Just as He had predicted, the Lord visited Sarah and brought about the miracle of the birth of Isaac, the covenant son He had promised to Abraham and Sarah.  This time, Sarah laughed with joy and said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children?  Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”

As Isaac grew, tension also grew between Sarah and Hagar until Hagar was sent out into the wilderness.  The Lord provided for her and Ishmael and preserved their lives.  Meanwhile, Abraham continued to grow in faith and called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.

Prayer:

Lord, like Abraham and Sarah, I often try to take matters into my own hands and seek to accomplish things in my own timing, way, and power.  I thank You that Your ways are far above my own, and I ask for the grace to trust in Your ways without trying to manipulate the outcome.
