Daily Encouragement Day 133 – Esther 6

When the king providentially heard the account of Mordecai’s averting an assassination attempt, he wanted him to be rewarded.  Ironically, at that moment Haman was at court to ask the king to hang Mordecai.  When the king asked Haman what should be done for the man the king wishes to honor, Haman proudly assumed the king meant him and answered accordingly.  To his horror, Haman discovered the king intended this honor for Mordecai the Jew and that he should bring it about.  When Haman told his wife and friends what happened, they realized he was about to fall before Mordecai.  Just then, the king’s eunuchs arrived to take Haman to Esther’s banquet.

READING of ESTHER 6

Prayer:

Lord, the rich irony and plot twists of this book display the truth of Mary’s words in Luke 1: “He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart.  He has brought down rulers from their thrones, and has exalted those who were humble.”
