Daily Encouragement Day 155 – Psalm 145

The last of the Davidic psalms exhorts us to fly with the wings of the Spirit to the pinnacle from which we can see everything from a biblical viewpoint.  Psalm 145, a skillfully constructed acrostic poem, invites the people of God to let their spirits resonate with His Spirit as it alternates calls to praise and reasons for praise.  It begins with the unsearchable greatness of God (verses 1-8) and the glorious splendor of His majesty.  The psalm then moves to the theme of the goodness of God (verses 9-13) and His tender mercies that are over all His works.  David concludes with a meditation on the grace of God (verses 14-21) and the way He fulfills the desire of those who call upon Him and fear Him.

Lord, I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever.  You are great and highly to be praised, and Your greatness is unsearchable.  All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, and Your godly ones shall bless You.
