Daily Encouragement Day 252 – Acts 16

Acts 15:36-18:22 records Paul’s second missionary Journey that took place in A.D. 50-52, in which Paul, accompanied this time by Silas, returned to Galatia and then proceeded beyond to Macedonia and Greece.  Timothy soon joined them, and they strengthened the churches that had been established earlier.  Heading north and then west, they reached Troas where Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia who was calling for help.  Responding to this call, they headed to Macedonia and made their way to Philippi.  When Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into an inner prison, their hymns of praise to God so affected the prisoners that none escaped when given an opportunity.  This remarkable event led to the conversion of the Philippian jailer and his household.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the simplicity and profundity of the good news that is encapsulated in the statement, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”  I entrust myself to Him and thank You for the gift of new life that He purchased for all who call upon Your name.
