Daily Encouragement Day 253 – Acts 17

After leaving Philippi, Paul, Silas, and Timothy made their way to Thessalonica where a number of Jews and God-fearing Greeks came to faith in Jesus.  The Jewish leaders stirred up the people against them, and Paul and his companions went on to Berea where the people “received the word with great eagerness” until agitators from Thessalonica turned the crowds against Paul.  Silas and Timothy remained for a time in Berea while Paul journeyed to Athens where he reasoned in the synagogue and in the market place.  When he was given an opportunity to address the Athenians on the Areopagus (Mars Hill), Paul told them about the one true God who “will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”
