Daily Encouragement Day 274 – Romans 15

When Paul wrote this epistle, he wanted to prepare the Christians in Rome for his planned visit to them (which was delayed by his two-year imprisonment in Caesarea) and to ground them in the knowledge of the faith.  Paul also wanted to solicit the prayer support of these believers in the Imperial City at a transitional point in his ministry in which he had completed his apostolic task of laying the foundation for the gospel in the eastern provinces and was now hoping to do the same in the western provinces.

Paul informed his Roman readers, some of whom he had already met in his travels (16:1-15), of his intention to visit them after he completed his mission of delivering a collection from the churches of Macedonia and Achaia to the poor among the saints in Jerusalem (15:20-29).
