Daily Encouragement Day 95 – 1 Kings 10

According to the Abrahamic Covenant, it was through Abraham’s descendants that all the families of the earth would be blessed.  This account of Solomon and the queen of Sheba illustrates how this was beginning to happen during the righteous portion of Solomon’s reign.  When she came up to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, Solomon’s answers as well as the glory of his reign overwhelmed her.  This was a rare instance in which the reality exceeded the rumors.  Thus, this woman left Jerusalem with praise for the God of Israel: “Blessed be the Lord your God who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel; because the Lord loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”  Solomon’s fame and wealth continued to increase.

READING of 1 KINGS 10

Prayer:

Lord, this glorious scene shows what You intended for Your covenant nation.  How short-lived are the days of righteousness, and how prone we are to turn away from You in times of prosperity.  Let me remember how fleeting are my days on this earth, so that I will not spend them in vain.
