From Simple Prayers, Day 2

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ, You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.

God, You will not always strive with us,
Nor will You harbor Your anger forever;
You do not treat us as our sins deserve
Or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is Your love for those who fear You;
As far as the east is from the west,
So far have You removed our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on His children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. (Psalm 103:9–13)

Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

You, the Lord, alone have declared what is to come from the distant past. There is no God apart from You, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none besides You. You are God, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:21–22)

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them.  The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy. (Psalm 145:18–20)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

You know how I am formed; You remember that I am dust. As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field. The wind passes over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children, to those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts. (Psalm 103:14–18)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions. (Proverbs 10:12)

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. (Proverbs 17:17)

Lord, I thank You for Your righteousness  and for Your nearness to all who call upon You. I thank You for Your everlasting lovingkindness, and I ask that I would love others at all times.
