Daily Scripture Responsiveness And&Nbsp; Obedience: Part 3

I do not want to be like those rocky places on whom seed was thrown, who hear the word and at once receive it with joy, but since they have no root, last only a short time; when affliction or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.  Nor do I want to be like those among the thorns on whom seed was sown, who hear the word, but the worries of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and pleasures, and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it immature and unfruitful.  Instead, I want to be like the good soil on whom seed was sown, who with a noble and good heart hear the word, understand and accept it, and with perseverance bear fruit, yielding thirty, sixty, or a hundred times what was sown.  (Matthew 13:20-23; Mark 4:16-20; Luke  8:13-15)

I want to be righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.  (Luke 1:6)

I desire not only to call You Lord but to do what You say.  By Your grace, I will come to You, hear Your words, and put them into practice.  Then I will be like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock, and when a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.  (Luke 6:46-48)

When I have done all the things which are commanded me, I should realize that I am an unworthy servant; I have only done what I ought to have done.  (Luke 17:10)

I am willing to do God’s will.  (John 7:17)

I must do the work of Him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.  (John 9:4)

Since I love You, I will obey Your commandments.  (John 14:15)

He who has Your commandments and obeys them, he is the one who loves You; and he who loves You will be loved by Your Father, and You will love him and manifest Yourself to him.  (John 14:21)

If anyone loves You, he will keep Your word; and Your Father will love him, and You and Your Father will come to him and make Your home with him.  (John 14:23)

By this is Your Father glorified, that I bear much fruit, showing myself to be Your disciple.  (John 15:8)

Just as I presented the members of my body as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing lawlessness, so I now present my members as slaves to righteousness, leading to holiness.  (Romans 6:19)

I want to be a doer of the word and not merely a hearer who deceives himself.  For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror, and after looking at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.  But the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the word, this one will be blessed in what he does.  (James 1:22-25)
