Whenever God disciplines me,
it is for my ultimate good.
Our fathers disciplined us for a little while
as they thought best,
but God disciplines us for our good,
that we may share in His holiness.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful;
later on, however, it produces the peaceable
fruit of righteousness
for those who have been trained by it.
(Hebrews 12:10–11)
Lord, none of us enjoys the painful school of discipline, but my confidence is in Your good intention to work this experiential teaching for my good so that I will grow in Christ-like character. This brief period of earthly discipline will bring forth the eternal fruit of righteousness. Amen.
