From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 103 (Promises)

Although our time on this earth is brief,
we will live forever through God’s eternal word
of life in us.

All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flower of the field.
The grass withers and the flower fades,
because the breath of the Lord blows on it.
Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers and the flower fades,
but the word of our God stands forever.
(Isaiah 40:6–8)

Eternal God, Your living word endures forever while the generations of men come and go like waves on the seashore. Human glory is brief, but divine glory will never fade. May I embrace, learn, love, and obey Your life-giving Word in my life, and may I reproduce your Word in others. Amen.
