From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 83 (Promises)

There is no comparison between the afflictions of our brief earthly sojourn
and the glory of our eternal heavenly existence.

I do not lose heart; even though my outward man is perishing,
yet my inner man is being renewed day by day.
For this light affliction which is momentary
is working for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
while I do not look at the things which are seen
but at the things which are unseen.
For the things which are seen are temporary,
but the things which are unseen are eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:16–18)

Heavenly Father, the pains and uncertainties of my earthly life sometimes tempt me to lose heart. But when I reflect on the contrast between this momentary light adversity and the endless weight of glory, intimacy, beauty, and adventure in the heavenly realms in Your presence, I am strengthened and encouraged. Amen.
