From Simple Prayers, Day 61
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others, and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.
O Lord, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of Your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to You. (1 Chronicles 29:18)
Hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and forgive and deal with each man according to all he does, since You know his heart (for You alone know the hearts of men). (2 Chronicles 6:30)
Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
You are the Lord, and there is no savior besides You. From ancient days You are He, and no one can deliver out of Your hand; You act, and who can reverse it? (Isaiah 43:11, 13)
God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:29–31)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
Those who are rich in this present world should not be arrogant or set their hope on the uncertainty of riches but on God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. They should do good, be rich in good works, and be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the future, so that they may lay hold of true life. (1 Timothy 6:17–19)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
In my anger I will not sin; I will not let the sun go down while I am still angry, and I will not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:26–27)
Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam, so I will stop a quarrel before it breaks out. (Proverbs 17:14)
Lord, I thank You for Your sovereign power and for Your promise of complete renewal. I thank You for the many things You have given me, and I ask that I would be self-controlled and live in peace with others.
