From Simple Prayers, Day 80
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37–40)
May I not love with words or tongue, but in deed and in truth. By this I will know that I am of the truth and will assure my heart before Him; for if my heart condemns me, God is greater than my heart, and knows all things. If my heart does not condemn me, I have confidence before God and receive from Him whatever I ask, because I keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight. (1 John 3:18–22)
Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. (1 Timothy 1:17)
If the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did the grace of God and the gift that came by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. And the gift of God is not like the result of the one man’s sin, for the judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. (Romans 5:15–16)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
It is a trustworthy saying, that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I obtained mercy as the worst of sinners, so that Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him for eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:15–16)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
In Christ Jesus, God’s whole building is joined together and growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom we also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:21–22)
Grace has been given to each one of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ. And He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:7, 11–12)
Lord, I thank You that You are the eternal King and that the gift of Your grace in Christ Jesus abounded to the many. I thank You that Christ came to save sinners, and I ask that I would use my spiritual gifts to edify others.
