READING: Ezekiel 1
Ezekiel is an extraordinary book of mystery, visions, symbolism, parables, and allegories that stretches our minds about the glory and majestic splendor of God and invites us to fear Him and hope in Him. This is a complex and multifaceted collection of prophetic oracles, and it offers a number of significant keys to grasping God’s future program to bring salvation and righteousness upon the earth.
Ezekiel’s vision of the glory of God in chapter 1 is one of the most remarkable passages in Scripture, and it is the first of a series of passages that trace the localized manifestation of the presence of God’s glory from its departure from the temple to its return to the new temple (1:28; 3:12, 23; 9:3; 10:4, 18–19; 11:22–23; 43:1–5; 44:4).
Lord, I marvel at Your awesome being, majesty, and holiness. The appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord in this chapter transcends my comprehension and causes me to realize how little I really know about You.
