Daily Scripture: Day 21—Genesis 42

From Handbook to Scripture, Day 21

READING: GENESIS 42

The Lord used the great famine to orchestrate an encounter between Joseph and his brothers. When his brothers came and bowed down before him, Joseph remembered the dreams he had experienced years before and realized they were finally being fulfilled. Joseph tested his brothers to see what was in their hearts, and they did not realize who he was or that he could understand their language. He required them to leave Simeon in Egypt while they returned to Canaan to bring their youngest brother to confirm their words.

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for this very real account of the gradual process of reconciliation of estranged relationships. May I examine my own relationships and humble myself enough to seek out reconciliation and closure with anyone I have injured in the past.

Meditation passage: verse 22
