Daily Scripture: Day 60—Joshua 1

From Handbook to Scripture, Day 60

READING: JOSHUA 1

As soon as Joshua assumed the mantle of Moses, he faced the daunting task of leading the children of Israel across the Jordan River to begin their conquest of the Promised Land. The Lord Himself encouraged Joshua and exhorted him to be strong and of good courage. Further, the key to Joshua’s success rested in his relationship with the Lord, and therefore he needed to be a man of the Word who meditated on it day and night. By cultivating his daily walk with God, Joshua would be a fit leader to guide the people into the inheritance the Lord had promised to them.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the wealth of Your Word. Like Joshua, I want to be shaped by Your Word and keep it before me so that I will “observe to do according to all that is written in it.”

Meditation passage: verses 7–9
