Morning Affirmations 1

This entry is part 12 of 19 in the series Spiritual Renewal Card Set

Everyone has a morning routine. We get up, perhaps lounging in bed or stumbling into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, and so we begin our day. Regardless of our routine, it is essential to renew our minds first thing in the morning. By doing so, we make a decision to remember God’s truths rather than the falsehoods we have picked up from our culture.

Submitting to God

Our first act of every day ought to be submitting to God as an act of worship. This includes surrendering our plans and schedules to Him, trusting that He will transform us when we do so. After all, we are not in control of our lives; God is. Submission to God means that He is enthroned over our lives, not us. This gives us an eternal perspective that affects how we see each day.

Adoration and Thanksgiving

Next, having this eternal perspective, we should focus our minds on the Lord in an attitude of praise. Having submitted to Him, we see that life is about Him and are able to adore Him and give Him thanksgiving. Try meditating on one of God’s attributes during this time.

Examination

Finally, we ought to examine ourselves. We should ask the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and reveal areas of unconfessed sin. Doing so brings us into greater intimacy with God.
