Psalm 8: The Glory of God and the Dignity of Man
Text: Psalm 8
David, seeing God’s mighty works in the heavens, marveled that God would pay man any mind. God has graciously entrusted man with the works of His creation. But by seeking the good for ourselves, rather than the good God provides, we’ve become a bundle of contradictions: we are simultaneously the grandeur and degradation of the created order; we bear the image of God, but we are ensnared in trespasses and sin; we are capable of harnessing the forces of nature, but unable to rule our tongue. Praise God for Jesus Christ, His Son, who suffered and died on our behalf, so that we may fully realize the glory God intended for us in Him (cf. Hebrews 2).
