Desirable Prayer Habits

This entry is part 6 of 10 in the series Quiet Time

Should we set aside time for prayer?

We know that Scripture calls us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) throughout our day. But in order to begin this practice, it is helpful to establish a formal time with God in which we purposefully pursue a relationship with Him.

Here are some tips for desirable prayer habits:

  1. Choose the best time
  2. Choose the best place
  3. Be consistent
  4. Focus on the person of God
  5. Come before Him in humility
  6. Come expectantly to the throne
  7. Do not do all the talking

Although these tips should not become a legalistic checklist, they can be useful in growing your appetite for prayer. Practicing prayer consistently will deepen your relationship with God over time.
