Daily Encouragement Day 262 – Acts 28

The 276 people from the shipwreck found themselves on the island of Malta, and the natives kindled a fire to warm them against the cold and the rain.  A viper bit Paul on the hand, and when they observed that he suffered no harm, the natives began to say that he was a god.  Publius generously entertained his new guests, and after Paul healed the father of Publius, the rest of the people on the island came to Paul for healing.  After three months, Paul and the others embarked on a ship that had wintered at the island, and they finally arrived at the port of Puteoli in Italy, south of Rome.  Paul was brought to Rome where he was placed under house arrest to await his trial before Caesar.  He gathered the leading members of the Jewish community to explain his circumstances and to explain from the Scriptures that Jesus is the promised Messiah.
