Daily Encouragement Day 41 – Exodus 20

The revelation of the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai displayed the Lord’s perfection of character and His desire that His people also reflect that character in their walk with Him and with one another.  The first four commandments concern our vertical relationship with God, and the last six commandments concern our horizontal relationships with the people in our lives.  These commandments contain the essence of rightly ordered spiritual and social life and are not merely concerned with external actions, but also with internal attitudes.  Seen this way, they are impossible to attain through human effort, and they reveal our need for the grace of God.

Prayer:

Lord, You are a community of three Persons whose perfect character is the absolute basis for the true, the beautiful, and the good.  By Your grace, may I invite You to display Your character and righteousness through me.
