Daily Prayer Day 1

From Simple Prayers, Day 1

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

Lord, I give thanks for Your greatness, your goodness, and your love, and I now draw near to enjoy your presence.

I will exalt You, my God and King;
I will bless Your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness is unsearchable. (Psalm 145:1–3)

Out of the north He comes in golden splendor;
With God is awesome majesty.
The Almighty is beyond our reach;
He is exalted in power
And in His justice and great righteousness,
He does not oppress. (Job 37:22–23)

Take a moment to consider God’s awesome majesty and thank Him that He loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

The Lord Jesus Christ received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to Him from the Majestic Glory who said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” (2 Peter 1:17)

In Your unfailing love You have led the people You have redeemed. In Your strength You have guided them to Your holy dwelling. You brought them in and planted them in the mountain of Your inheritance—the place, O Lord, You made for Your dwelling; the sanctuary, O Lord, Your hands have established. (Exodus 15:13, 17)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done, and Your thoughts toward us no one can recount to You; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Direct my footsteps according to Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. (Psalm 119:133)

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol or sworn by what is false. (Psalm 24:3–4)

Lord, I thank You for Your beloved Son and for Your unfailing love. I thank You for Your wonderful thoughts, and I ask that I would follow Your word and walk in purity of heart.
