Daily Encouragement: Day 187

From Handbook to Wisdom, Day 187

TREASURE CHRIST
ABOVE ALL ELSE

To me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
(Philippians 1:21)

Whatever was gain to me I now consider loss
for the sake of Christ.
What is more, I consider all things loss
compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing
Christ Jesus my Lord,
for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things
and consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and
be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own
that comes from the law,
but that which is through faith in Christ—the
righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
(Philippians 3:7–9)

Lord Jesus, You are my life, and to die is to be ushered into Your manifest presence. Nothing this world has to offer can remotely compare with such a real and abiding treasure. The basis for my welcome to the Father’s household is the righteousness You have offered by grace through faith. Amen.
