Personal Development: Dependence on God
Most leaders have learned that there are three ways to deal with mistakes. First, there’s the easier way: learning from others’ mistakes; then there’s the harder way: learning from our own mistakes; and then there’s the tragic way: not learning from either. Genesis 3:1–6 gives us an opportunity to take the easier way. It provides priceless insight into the process Satan used to shift Adam and Eve’s dependence away from God. A careful look at it will help us learn how to avoid their tragic failure to depend on God.
Notice that Adam and Eve were not dealing with an easy adversary (v. 1). Never underestimate the power of the one who wants you to depend on anything but God.
