Daily Encouragement: Year 1, Day 61

From Handbook to Renewal

The Attributes of God

Before You formed me in the womb, You knew me; before I was born, You set me apart. (Jeremiah 1:5)

God numbers even the very hairs of my head. (Matthew 10:30; Luke 12:7)

The Works of God

Because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save completely those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. (Hebrews 7:24–25)

By the will of God, I have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily ministering and offering again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time for His enemies to be made a footstool for His feet. For by one offering, He has made perfect forever those who are being sanctified. (Hebrews 10:10–14)

My Relationship to God

I do not want to be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove that the will of God is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)

May the God of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give me a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the full knowledge of Him, and may the eyes of my heart be enlightened, in order that I may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the incomparable greatness of His power toward us who believe. (Ephesians 1:17–19)

The Character I Want to Cultivate

Since the day of the Lord will come like a thief, what kind of person should I be in holy conduct and godliness as I look for and hasten the coming of the day of God? But according to His promise, I am looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, since I am looking for these things, I will be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless. (2 Peter 3:10–14)

I will abide in Christ, so that when He appears, I may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. (1 John 2:28)

My Relationship to Others

Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred. (Proverbs 15:17)

He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. (Proverbs 17:9)
