From Handbook to Renewal

The Attributes of God

O Lord, God of heaven, You are the great and awesome God, keeping Your covenant of loyal love with those who love You and obey Your commands. (Nehemiah 1:5)

Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations! Who will not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed. (Revelation 15:3–4)

The Works of God

John was called a prophet of the Most High; for he went on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him, and to give His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins—because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high came from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death—to guide their feet into the path of peace. (Luke 1:76–79)

Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)

My Relationship to God

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit are with me. (2 Corinthians 13:14)

In Christ I have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who have trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:11–12)

The Character I Want to Cultivate

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. I cannot serve God and wealth. (Matthew 6:24; Luke 16:13)

I will not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but of the world. And the world and its lusts are passing away, but the one who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15–17)

My Relationship to Others

In Christ Jesus, God’s whole building is joined together and growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom we also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:21–22)

Grace has been given to each one of us according to the measure of the gift of Christ. And He gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:7, 11–12)
