Daily Prayer: Day 109

From Simple Prayers, Day 109

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

As I approach Your throne of grace today, I am grateful that You care about the things that concern me and that You want me to offer them up to You.

Since I have a great cloud of witnesses surrounding me, may I lay aside every impediment and the sin that so easily entangles, and run with endurance the race that is set before me, fixing my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. May I consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that I will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1–3)

Take a moment to share your personal needs with God, including your physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. Moreover, by them is Your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. (Psalm 19:7–11)

Jesus told His disciples, “The Spirit will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. Therefore I said that He will take from what is Mine and make it known to you.” (John 16:14–15)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

You are my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge. (Psalm 144:2)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

The thoughts of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful. (Proverbs 12:5)

I will walk properly as in the daytime, not in revellings and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and debauchery, not in strife and jealousy. Rather, I will put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision to gratify the lusts of the flesh. (Romans 13:13–14)

Lord, I thank You for Your perfect precepts and commandments and for the gift of Your indwelling Holy Spirit. I thank You that You are my high tower and my deliverer, and I ask that my thoughts and actions would honor the Lord Jesus Christ.
