From Simple Prayers, Day 133
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
O Lord, I am deeply grateful for Your wonderful acts, for Your abundant promises, and for the gift of my relationship with You through the merits of Christ.
Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us no one can recount to You;
Were I to speak and tell of them,
They would be too many to declare. (Psalm 40:5)
I will praise You forever for what You have done;
I will hope in Your name, for it is good.
I will praise You in the presence of Your saints. (Psalm 52:9)
Take a moment to express your gratitude for the many blessings that you have received from the Lord.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
Will God indeed dwell on earth? Heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You. (1 Kings 8:27)
The Lord said, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” But He was speaking of the temple of His body. After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them, and they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. (John 2:19, 21–22)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
I rejoice in my tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into my heart through the Holy Spirit who was given to me. (Romans 5:3–5)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
Everyone who eats and drinks and sees good in all his labor—it is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:13)
I do not want to be worried and troubled about many things; only one thing is needed. Like Mary, I want to choose the good part, which will not be taken away from me. (Luke 10:41–42)
Lord, I thank You that You transcend the created order and that You raised Your Son Jesus from the dead. I thank You that Your love has been poured out into my heart through the Holy Spirit, and I ask that I would not be anxious, but focus my attention on Christ.
