Daily Prayer: Day 157

From Simple Prayers, Day 157

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.

Christ must increase; I must decrease. (John 3:30)

You are the true vine, and Your Father is the vinedresser. He cuts off every branch in You that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. May I abide in You, and You in me. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can I, unless I abide in You. (John 15:1–2, 4)

Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

Death and Destruction lie open before the Lord; how much more the hearts of men! (Proverbs 15:11)

The Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to his works. (Matthew 16:27)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. With Your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can leap over a wall. (2 Samuel 22:29–30)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a good word makes him glad. (Proverbs 12:25)

God comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we can comfort those in any affliction with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (2 Corinthians 1:4)

Lord, I thank You that all things are open before You and that the Son of Man will reward each person according to his works. I thank You that You turn my darkness into light, and I ask that You would comfort me in my afflictions so that I would not be anxious.
