Daily Prayer: Day 161

From Simple Prayers, Day 161

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

O Lord, I am deeply grateful for Your wonderful acts, for Your abundant promises, and for the gift of my relationship with You through the merits of Christ.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:18–19)

God is my refuge and strength,
An ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore I will not fear, though the earth changes
And the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. (Psalm 46:1–2)

Take a moment to express your gratitude for the many blessings that you have received from the Lord.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

I will give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)

Jesus did not ask that the Father should take us out of the world, but that He protect us from the evil one. He prayed, “Father, I desire those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory, the glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:15, 24)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

I will not despise the discipline of the Lord nor resent His correction; for the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in. (Proverbs 3:11–12)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

I will remind others to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to be peaceable and gentle, and to show true humility toward all men. (Titus 3:1–2)

I will do all things without complaining or arguing, so that I may become blameless and pure, a child of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom I shine as a light in the world, holding fast the word of life. (Philippians 2:14–16)

Lord, I thank You for Your goodness and everlasting love and for Jesus’ desire for us to be with Him and behold His glory. I thank You for the discipline You send for my good, and I ask that I would pursue humility and purity in my character.
