Daily Prayer: Day 164

From Simple Prayers, Day 164

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.

May I not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all my heart. May I not turn aside to go after worthless things which do not profit or deliver, because they are useless. (1 Samuel 12:20–21)

The works of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envyings, drunkenness, revelries, and the like. Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:19–23)

Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

I will sing of Your lovingkindness and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing praises. (Psalm 101:1)

As the gospel spread to the Gentiles, many rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. (Acts 13:48)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

Who will bring a charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ Jesus who died, who was furthermore raised to life, who is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for me. (Romans 8:33–34)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

I must not test the Lord or grumble as some of the Israelites did. (1 Corinthians 10:9–10)

Like Barnabas, I want to be a good person, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. (Acts 11:24)

Lord, I thank You for Your lovingkindness and justice and for the priceless gift of eternal life in Christ. I thank You that in Christ Jesus I cannot be condemned, and I ask that I would not grumble about my circumstances, but be full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.
