From Simple Prayers, Day 179
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
As I approach Your throne of grace today, I am grateful that You care about the things that concern me and that You want me to offer them up to You.
May I consider the members of my earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming, and in them I once walked when I lived in them. (Colossians 3:5–7)
Take a moment to share your personal needs with God, including your physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
You are He; You are the first, and You are also the last. (Isaiah 48:12)
The Lord Jesus is coming quickly. His reward is with Him, and He will give to everyone according to what he has done. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Yes, He is coming quickly. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:12–13, 20)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
I have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that I might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that I might bear fruit to God. But now, by dying to what once bound me, I have been released from the law so that I serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. (Romans 7:4, 6)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
Concerning the lost, Jesus said, “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he finds it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes into his house, he calls his friends and neighbors together and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:4–7, 10)
I will have mercy on those who are doubting. (Jude 22)
Lord, I thank You that Jesus, the First and the Last, is coming quickly. I thank You that I now belong to Him who was raised from the dead, and I ask that I would share Your concern for the lost.
