From Simple Prayers, Day 182
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
O Lord, I am deeply grateful for Your wonderful acts, for Your abundant promises, and for the gift of my relationship with You through the merits of Christ.
Blessed is the one You choose and bring near
To live in Your courts.
We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Of Your holy temple. (Psalm 65:4)
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1–2)
Take a moment to express your gratitude for the many blessings that you have received from the Lord.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
Anyone who has seen Jesus has seen the Father. (John 14:9)
Jesus will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will never end. (Luke 1:32–33)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:13)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
I will not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. (Ecclesiastes 7:10)
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—I will think about such things. The things I have learned and received and heard and seen in those who walk with Christ I will practice, and the God of peace will be with me. (Philippians 4:8–9)
Lord, I thank You that Jesus has disclosed You and that His kingdom will never end. I thank You for the gift of Your indwelling Holy Spirit, and I ask that I would set my mind on the things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy.
