Daily Prayer: Day 191

From Simple Prayers, Day 191

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of Your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ, You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.

O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger
Or chasten me in Your wrath.
Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am weak;
O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in distress.
My soul also is greatly troubled;
But You, O Lord, how long? (Psalm 6:1–3)

Let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying, “The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression.”  (Numbers 14:17–18)

Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

It pleased the Lord for the sake of His righteousness to make His law great and glorious. (Isaiah 42:21)

Is the law opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been by the law.  But the Scripture has confined all under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. (Galatians 3:21–22)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

He who believes in God’s Son is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. (1 Corinthians 8:1)

We love, because God first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And we have this commandment from Him: that the one who loves God must also love his brother. (1 John 4:19–21)

We must let brotherly love continue. (Hebrews 13:1)

Lord, I thank You for the greatness of Your law and for the way it points to the need for faith in Jesus Christ. I thank You that since I believe in Christ, I will not face condemnation, and I ask that I would manifest my love for You by loving others.
