Daily Prayer: Day 198

From Simple Prayers, Day 198

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I am grateful to You, O God, for the blessing of your forgiveness. I thank You that in Christ, You set me free from the guilt of the past and give me hope for the future.

You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness;
Evil cannot dwell with You. (Psalm 5:4)

Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed is better than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (1 Samuel 15:22–23)

Take a moment to ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

The Lord my God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. (Deuteronomy 4:24)

Although the glory of the Lord departed because of the unfaithfulness of Israel, God has promised that because of His faithfulness, He will redeem His people and His glory will return. Ezekiel was given a vision of the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the earth was radiant with His glory. The glory of the Lord entered the temple through the gate facing toward the east. Then the Spirit lifted him up and brought him into the inner court, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The Lord said to him, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place for the soles of My feet. This is where I will dwell among the children of Israel forever. And the house of Israel will never again defile My holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their harlotry and idolatry.” (Ezekiel 43:2, 4–7)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

God will supply all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. To my God and Father be glory for ever and ever. (Philippians 4:19–20)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Direct my footsteps according to Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. (Psalm 119:133)

Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol or sworn by what is false. (Psalm 24:3–4)

Lord, I thank You for Your promise to redeem Your people and to dwell among them. I thank You for supplying all my needs, and I ask that I would walk in purity of heart and obedience to Your word.
