Daily Prayer: Day 222

From Simple Prayers, Day 222

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others, and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.

Each of us must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are members of one another. (Ephesians 4:25)

We should submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:21)

Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

Jesus is the Son of God; He is the King of Israel. (John 1:49)

An hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear the voice of the Son of Man, and will come out—those who have done good to a resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to a resurrection of judgment. (John 5:28–29)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” So rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness, and He relents from sending calamity. (Joel 2:12–13)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Laziness casts one into a deep sleep, and an idle person will be hungry. (Proverbs 19:15)

God has not given me a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Lord, I thank You that Jesus is Your Son and that all who are in the graves will hear His voice. I thank You for Your grace and compassion, and I ask that I would not succumb to sloth, but walk in power, love, and self-control.
