Daily Prayer: Day 263

From Simple Prayers, Day 263

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

As I approach Your throne of grace today, I am grateful that You care about the things that concern me and that You want me to offer them up to You.

May I not boast about tomorrow,
For I do not know what a day may bring forth. (Proverbs 27:1)

May I not say, “Today or tomorrow I will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business, and make a profit.” For I do not even know what my life will be tomorrow. I am a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, let me say, “If the Lord wills, I will live and do this or that.” Otherwise, I boast in my arrogance, and all such boasting is evil. (James 4:13–16)

Take a moment to share your personal needs with God, including your physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. (1 Timothy 1:17)

O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago in perfect faithfulness. (Isaiah 25:1)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

He who believes in You, as the Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within him, because Your Spirit indwells him. (John 7:38–39)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Whoever is wise and understanding will show it by his good conduct and works done in the humility that comes from wisdom. If I harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in my heart, I should not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not come down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice. (James 3:13–16)

May the Lord make me increase and abound in my love for believers and for unbelievers. (1 Thessalonians 3:12)

Lord, I thank You that You are the King eternal, immortal, and invisible and that You have done wonderful things. I thank You for the gift of Your indwelling Holy Spirit, and I ask that I would seek the wisdom that comes from above and abound in my love for others.
