From Simple Prayers, Day 264
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others, and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.
We should always pray for other believers, that our God may count them worthy of His calling and fulfill every desire for goodness and every work of faith with power. (2 Thessalonians 1:11)
We should always give thanks to God for believers in Christ, because from the beginning, God chose us for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called us to this through the gospel, that we might obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessalonians 2:13–14)
Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
The Lord my God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:17–18)
The Lord watches over the strangers; He sustains the orphan and the widow, but He thwarts the way of the wicked. (Psalm 146:9)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
Lord Jesus, he who believes in You does not believe in You only, but in the One who sent You. And he who beholds You beholds the One who sent You. (John 12:44–45)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful; later on, however, it produces the peaceable fruit of righteousness for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:10–11)
In obedience to the truth I will purify my soul for a sincere love of the brethren, and I will love others fervently from the heart. (1 Peter 1:22)
Lord, I thank You for Your power and for Your passion for justice. I thank You that I have come to believe in the Lord Jesus, and I ask that I would learn the peaceable fruit of righteousness through Your discipline and purify my soul to love others with sincerity.
