Daily Prayer: Day 284

From Simple Prayers, Day 284

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

As I approach Your throne of grace today, I am grateful that You care about the things that concern me and that You want me to offer them up to You.

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
For in You my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings
Until destruction passes by.
I cry out to God Most High,
To God who fulfills His purpose for me. (Psalm 57:1–2)

Take a moment to share your personal needs with God, including your physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind, for He is not a man, that He should change His mind. (1 Samuel 15:29)

Jesus told His disciples, “I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” (John 16:28)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

I am the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. I am the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. In the same way, I must let my light shine before men, that they may see my good deeds and praise my Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:13–16)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Pride breeds nothing but strife, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. (Proverbs 13:10)

I will listen to counsel and accept instruction, that I may be wise in my latter days. (Proverbs 19:20)

Lord, I thank You that You never lie or change Your mind and that Jesus perfectly fulfilled Your timeless plan. I pray that I would become salt and light to those who know me, and I ask that I would be wise enough to take advice and accept instruction.
