Daily Prayer: Day 288

From Simple Prayers, Day 288

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

Lord, I give thanks for Your greatness, your goodness, and your love, and I now draw near to enjoy your presence.

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise
In the city of our God, His holy mountain.
We have meditated on Your unfailing love, O God,
In the midst of Your temple.
As is Your name, O God,
So is Your praise to the ends of the earth;
Your right hand is filled with righteousness. (Psalm 48:1, 9–10)

O come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. (Psalm 95:6)

Take a moment to consider God’s awesome majesty and thank Him that He loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. (Psalm 147:5)

Through Christ all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (John 1:3–4)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

Here I do not have an enduring city, but I am seeking the city that is to come. (Hebrews 13:14)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

He who loves money will not be satisfied with money; nor he who loves abundance, with its increase. (Ecclesiastes 5:10)

I will covet no one’s money or possessions. (Acts 20:33)

Lord, I thank You for Your infinite power and understanding and for the authority of Christ through whom all things were created. I pray that I would seek the city that is to come, and I ask that I would not succumb to greed and covetousness.
