From Simple Prayers, Day 290
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.
Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy; love does not boast, it is not arrogant, it does not behave rudely; it does not seek its own, it is not provoked, it keeps no record of wrongs; it does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth; it bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4–8)
May my love abound more and more in full knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ—having been filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9–11)
Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
To the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all ages and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 25)
The Scriptures predicted that the Christ should suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (Luke 24:46–47)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
I have been set apart for the gospel of God—I am among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:1, 6)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
I will not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but of the world. And the world and its lusts are passing away, but the one who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15–17)
I will let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, to which I was called as a member of one body, and I will be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)
Lord, I thank You that all glory, majesty, dominion, and authority belong to You and that Christ purchased my forgiveness so that I could become Your child. I thank You that I belong to Jesus Christ, and I ask that I would not love the things of the world but be ruled by the peace of Christ.
