From Simple Prayers, Day 292
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
Lord, You have invited me to pray for the needs of others, and since You desire what is best for them, I take this opportunity to bring these requests to You.
May I remember those in prison as though bound with them, and those who are mistreated, since I myself am also in the body. (Hebrews 13:3)
May I not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
Take a moment to lift up the needs of your family and friends, and to offer up any other burdens for others that the Lord brings to mind.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. Moreover, by them is Your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. (Psalm 19:7–11)
Jesus told His disciples, “The Spirit will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. Therefore I said that He will take from what is Mine and make it known to you.” (John 16:14–15)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Who is the man who desires life and loves many days that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry. (Psalm 34:11–15)
Like Josiah, I desire to do what is right in the sight of the Lord, walking in the ways of David and not turning aside to the right or to the left. (2 Chronicles 34:1–2)
Lord, I thank You for Your life-giving words and for Your Holy Spirit who illuminates them. I thank You for Your compassion and mercy, and I ask that I would seek to do that which is right in Your sight.
