Daily Prayer: Day 297

From Simple Prayers, Day 297

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.

May I not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man gives me, for God the Father has set His seal on Him. (John 6:27)

Whatever was gain to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider all things loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. (Philippians 3:7–9)

Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble; He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7)

The faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth, which is according to godliness, is a faith and knowledge resting in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time. At the appointed time, He manifested His word through the preaching entrusted to the apostles by the command of God our Savior. (Titus 1:1–3)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

God did not appoint me to suffer wrath but to obtain salvation through my Lord Jesus Christ. He died for me, so that, whether I am awake or asleep, I may live together with Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:9–10)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. (Psalm 118:8)

I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great spoil. I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love Your law. Great peace have they who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. O Lord, I hope for Your salvation, and I follow Your commands. My soul keeps Your testimonies, for I love them greatly. I keep Your precepts and Your testimonies, for all my ways are known to You. (Psalm 119:162–163, 165–168)

Lord, I thank You that You are a refuge in times of trouble and that You have called me to faith and hope in Jesus Christ. I thank You for His gift of salvation, and I ask that I would take refuge in You and hope in Your promises
