From Simple Prayers, Day 311
I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD
I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.
May I have no other gods before You. (Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 5:7)
May I not make for myself an idol in any form. (Exodus 20:4; Deuteronomy 5:8)
May I not take the name of the Lord my God in vain, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name. (Exodus 20:7; Deuteronomy 5:11)
Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.
THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and Your name is mighty in power. Who should not revere You, O King of the nations? It is Your rightful due. For among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like You. (Jeremiah 10:6–7)
Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom of God, and said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news.” (Mark 1:14–15)
I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH
It is for freedom that Christ has set me free. I should stand firm, therefore, and not let myself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)
MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD
I was once darkness, but now I am light in the Lord. I will walk as a child of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), learning what is pleasing to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:8–10)
I want my conscience to testify that I have conducted myself in the world in the holiness and sincerity that are from God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, especially in my relations with others. (2 Corinthians 1:12)
Lord, I thank You that there is no one like You and that You sent Jesus into the world so that we could enter into a relationship with You. I thank You for setting me free from the burden of my sins, and I ask that I would walk as a child of light and conduct my affairs in holiness and sincerity.
