Daily Prayer: Day 318

From Simple Prayers, Day 318

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

I praise You, Lord, that You are intimately acquainted with my ways and that You always love me and have my best interests at heart.

May I honor my father and my mother. (Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16)

May I not murder. (Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17)

May I not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18)

Take a moment to offer this day to the Lord and ask Him for the grace to grow in your knowledge and love for Him.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

The Lord brings death and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and raises up. The Lord sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to seat them with princes and make them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s, and He has set the world upon them. (1 Samuel 2:6–8)

When Judas went out to betray Him, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will glorify the Son in Himself and will glorify Him immediately.” (John 13:31–32)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

My eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; in You I take refuge; You will not leave my soul destitute. (Psalm 141:8)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

Wisdom is foremost; therefore I will get wisdom, and though it costs all I have, I will get understanding. I will esteem her, and she will exalt me; I will embrace her, and she will honor me. (Proverbs 4:7–8)

Since I call on the Father who judges each man’s work impartially, I should conduct myself in fear during the time of my sojourn on earth. (1 Peter 1:17)

Lord, I thank You for Your absolute authority and for glorifying Yourself in the redemptive work of Your Son. I thank You that I can take refuge in You, and I ask that I would embrace wisdom and conduct myself in reverence and awe.
