Daily Prayer: Day 358

From Simple Prayers, Day 358

I DRAW NEAR TO YOU, GOD

Lord, I give thanks for Your greatness, your goodness, and your love, and I now draw near to enjoy your presence.

O Lord, my Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
You have set Your glory above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1)

Great and marvelous are Your works,
Lord God Almighty!
Righteous and true are Your ways,
King of the nations!
Who will not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy.
All nations will come and worship before You,
For Your righteous acts have been revealed. (Revelation 15:3–4)

Take a moment to consider God’s awesome majesty and thank Him that He loves you and wants an intimate relationship with you.

THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

God is exalted beyond our understanding; the number of His years is unsearchable. (Job 36:26)

When Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this creation. Not through the blood of goats and calves but through His own blood, He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9:11–12)

I LISTEN TO YOUR WORDS OF TRUTH

Since I am receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, I will be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for my God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:28–29)

MY RESPONSE TO YOU, LORD

A person’s wickedness will punish him; his backsliding will reprove him. I know therefore and see that it is evil and bitter to forsake the Lord my God and have no fear of Him. (Jeremiah 2:19)

I do not want even a hint of immorality, or any impurity, or greed in my life, as is proper for a saint. Nor will I give myself to obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking, which are not fitting, but rather to giving of thanks. (Ephesians 5:3–4)

Lord, I thank You that You are exalted beyond my understanding and that Christ obtained eternal redemption once for all. I thank You that I am receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and I ask that I would never forsake You or give myself to those things that are not fitting.
